(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) Dhaka: Bangladesh is one of the most revenue-generating countries for freight carriers in the post-pandemic era. The establishment of the highest yield band in air freight is a reflection of massive growth in exports and strong demand for freight transportation.
Salma Qadeer Shifa, executive director of M&C Aviation Bangla-desh, Pan Aviation Bangladesh and general manager of Gulf Air GSA Bangladesh, said this during a conversation with The Bangladesh Monitor recently.
M&C Aviation has been the GSA of several foreign cargo carriers in Bangladesh since 2005.
One of the cargo carriers is All Nippon Airways Cargo, the national and five-star airline of Japan that has been transporting cargo to and from Bangladesh under the M&C Aviation banner online with interline partners since 2014, contributing significantly significant export and import from Bangladesh.
All Nippon Airways facilitated the delivery of Japan-made Covid-19 vaccines to Bangladesh, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Laos, East Timor, Fiji and the Maldives in cooperation with the Japanese government as part of the installation COVAX.
On July 24, ANA Cargo delivered the first batch of vaccine to Bangladesh, on July 31 the second batch and on August 3 the last batch. In total, he delivered a total of three and a half tons of AstraZeneca vaccine in partnership with one of the interline partners for the people of Bangladesh as a gift from the Japanese people.
M&C Aviation has played a vital role in this regard, said Shifa Qadeer, adding: “The transport of vaccines has overcome a number of logistical hurdles where M&C Aviation has deployed its full range of expertise and experience gained at the forefront of freight transport with the support of Dhaka airport authorities and customs. ”
About ANA, Shifa said, “Since 2017, ANA has been certified by the IATA Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics (CEIV Pharma). ANA is globally recognized for its excellent service and on-time delivery. It offers a wide range of destinations. in its network across Asia-Pacific and the North Atlantic. “
Regarding Bangladesh’s freight exports, Shifa has spoken quite openly about the fastest growth and huge future opportunities in air and sea freight, with Bangladesh now the world’s second largest exporter. Projections for the next five years show 100% growth, which will greatly benefit the country’s economy, Shifa said.
Shifa mentioned his wish to support small and medium freight forwarders in order to facilitate export for them without having a monopoly of the company. “Only a handful of large freight forwarders have room in this industry while small and medium freight forwarders struggle. But I want to change this trend. Since joining, every freight forwarder – small, medium and large – gets their share of space required. alternatively from M & C Aviation. “
Shifa is the first female executive in the aviation industry to become an entrepreneur in 2019 after 13 years of professional experience in the passenger, freight and banking industries. She worked with Etihad Airways, Bank Alfalah and Expolanka Group as a HOD where she learned from the best.
Soon, she will also lead the GSA of Samitivej Children’s Hospital in Bangladesh, appointed by her partners as director.
