Delphi selected by Singapore Land Transport Authority for Autonomous Vehicle On-Demand Mobility program
Delphi will deliver a fleet of fully autonomous vehicles and develop a cloud-based Mobility On Demand (AMoD) software suite, opening up potential new autonomous markets for Delphi customers. Delphi will test an urban, point-to-point, low-speed, autonomous, mobility-on-demand service in that of Singapore Autonomous vehicle test stand located at one-north, a business park in the western part of the city.
âWe are honored to partner with the Singapore LTA to advance innovative mobility systems, which will Singapore at the forefront of the adoption of autonomous vehicles, âsaid Kevin Clark, President and CEO, Delphi. âThis is a great recognition of Delphi’s leadership in advanced security technologies, automated software, systems integration, as well as our ability to advance these mobility solutions for our customers. “
Delphi’s AMoD development program and autonomous vehicle demonstration are part of the Singapore Autonomous Vehicle Initiative (SAVI), which was formed in 2014 to oversee and manage autonomous vehicle (AV) research, test stands and the development of applications and solutions by industry partners. and stakeholders.
The Singapore LTA is of particular interest in the potential of automated driving solutions to facilitate the passage of commuters on the âfirst mileâ and âlast mileâ between a transit station and their home or place of work. By meeting this need, the use of public transport systems could increase; reduce overall traffic congestion and vehicle emissions.
Delphi is a recognized leader in vehicle-based safety technologies, which are the building blocks of a fully automated vehicle; including advanced sensors, software and power distribution. The company uses its stake in SAVI to develop new products and capabilities to serve its global customers.
âAs a SAVI partner, Delphi will use a foundation of the same vehicle technologies that enabled us to complete the first coast-to-coast autonomous drive in United States in 2015 “, said Jeff Owens, CTO, Delphi. âThe development of a vehicle-integrated cloud-based software service capability creates an end-to-end solution that will ultimately enable our existing customers and many new potential customers to access emerging mobility markets. “
The development of a true end-to-end automated vehicle ecosystem, including cloud service capability, opens up a multitude of new business opportunities for Delphi to offer to existing and potential customers in the areas of mobility and connectivity. , logistics, agriculture and mining.
Delphi’s technology solution is vehicle independent and can be applied to passenger cars, buses, commercial vehicles, specially designed mobility modules and electric vehicles. AVs offer the potential to facilitate efficient sharing of urban and suburban vehicles, autonomous bus or taxi services, logistics and long-haul truck platoon.
Singapore’s LTA pilot program will run for three years and plans to transition to operational service by 2022. Additional pilots are planned by Delphi for locations in North America and Europe in the future. For more information, visit our press room.
