FNU to embark on engineering projects following signing of MOU with iMGINE Engineering & Technologies Ltd

Fiji National University will engage in engineering projects in the fields of finance, health, automation of transport and maritime systems, tsunami warning systems and automatic monitoring systems of flooding under a Memorandum of Understanding with iMGINE Engineering & Technologies PTE Limited.

FNU Acting Vice-Chancellor Dr William May said the collaboration underpins the main goals of the University’s strategic plan, which is to provide education for employability, research with real impact and a rewarding student experience.

He says they continuously ensure that their programs are focused, practical and industry-relevant, which enables their students to be work-ready and able to contribute to the development of their communities.

Dr May says these collaborative projects could solve real-world problems facing Fiji and its communities.

He says that as a nation at the forefront of the effects of climate change, it is imperative that their students, staff and industry partners work together on viable and sustainable solutions.

iMGINE Engineering & Technologies PTE Limited Board Director Lorraine Foster says the MOU has highlighted the organization’s main goals of identifying and delivering meaningful projects that improve the means of subsistence.

Foster says that with this collaboration, they hope the students will also use their innovative ideas to create and design.
