Lake Shore Gold, a subsidiary of Pan American Silver, is looking for the following people:

Mining Engineering Co-op Students (16 month term) – Four positions
Lake Shore Gold is looking for a 2nd, 3rd or 4th year Mining Engineering Co-op Students to support engineering services at our Timmins West Mine and Bell Creek Mine sites in Timmins, Ontario.

Responsibilities of the Mining Engineering student include:
• Assist planning, ventilation and surveying staff in their daily activities
• Work both on the surface and in underground environments
• Data entry, filing and excellent computer skills will be required.
• You will need to work with Amine, EPS, Deswik, Ventsim and Microsoft Office.

Cooperative student in chemical or mineral processes (16 month period) – One position
Lake Shore Gold is seeking a 2nd, 3rd or 4th year student co-op in Chemical Engineering (or Mining Engineering with a mineral processing focus) to support the Bell Creek Plant in Porcupine, Ontario.

Responsibilities of the chemical or mineral engineering student include:
• Ensures that all activities comply with legislative, company and site regulations
• Enter data into the daily metallurgical file and issue the daily metallurgical report
• Responsible for mill sampling for ore moisture content determination, mill circuit readings, milling analyses, etc.
• Responsible for accurate and repeatable month-end sampling to determine plant gold inventory.
• Responsible for counting reagent stocks at the end of the month and calculating the required exits for the warehouse to be processed
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness and order any equipment required for the laboratory or refinery
• Perform laboratory experiments, including but not limited to size analysis, leach testing, carbon activity and ETP testing.
• Become proficient in factory refining jobs
• Mix reagents required by plant operations and geology
• Special projects that may be assigned from time to time
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, is required
• A valid driver’s license is required

Students must be currently enrolled in a mining/mining engineering program to be eligible. Proof of eligibility is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate Lake Shore Gold’s core values ​​of Safety, Health and Environment and meet the requirements of its Code of Conduct.

Students must have access to a vehicle or carpool as public transportation is not available.
The internships will take place from May 2023 to August 2024.
