MoT Land Transport Sector completes 1,924 transactions in Q2 2022
The Ministry of Transport (MoT) carried out 1,924 transactions through its land transport sector during the second quarter of this year.
The Ministry of Transport announced yesterday, on its Twitter account, the completion of 1,924 transactions by the land transport sector in 2022.
Of the total of 1,924 transactions; 783 were related to land transport licensing and quality assurance, 636 to land transport planning and 505 transactions were related to traffic engineering and road safety.
According to a previous report, the MoT conducted 6,657 transactions through its land transport sector in 2021. In 2021, out of a total of 6,657 transactions; 3,639 were related to land transport licensing, 2,677 to land transport planning and 341 transactions were related to traffic engineering and road safety.
The Land Transport Development of the Land Transport Sector sets the general policy for the development of land and rail transport activities. It prepares the necessary studies and design plans, as well as the planning of the construction and development of land and rail transport networks in coordination with the competent authorities of the State of Qatar. It identifies licensing requirements and charges for land and rail transport activities.
The Land Transport Authorization implements the provisions of land and rail transport laws and regulations and also sets the rules and makes decisions governing the land and rail transport services.
It receives, examines and approves license applications submitted by land and rail transport service providers.
It also verifies the conformity of land transport means with the established specifications, in cooperation with the competent authorities of the State of Qatar, according to details on the MoT website.
The Traffic and Road Safety Engineering of the Road Transport Sector prepares traffic and traffic jam studies in coordination with the Traffic Department of the Ministry of the Interior.
Preparing studies and data analyzes on traffic accidents, determining their causes and proposing appropriate solutions as well as proposing road safety measures in coordination with the administrative units concerned are his tasks.
He coordinates with stakeholders to achieve the highest rates of road safety and accident reduction and manages traffic control systems and traffic lights, in coordination with relevant parties.
Land transport has become a key enabler of the Qatari economy and a cornerstone of its growth, and the land transport sector continues its efforts to develop a state-of-the-art transport network in line with the objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030, MoT says .
