Portage receives award for engineering feat with new causeway – PortageOnline.com

An award was presented to the City of Portage la Prairie by the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies Manitoba.

Kelly Braden, Municipal Engineering Consultant with Braden Municipal Engineering Services, and Jocelyn Lequier-Jobin, City Operations Manager, received the award in Winnipeg. Lequier-Jobin explains what earned the city this award.

“Our causeway project was nominated for an award,” says Lequier-Jobin. “With the consulting engineer, who was AECOM Canada, we accepted the award for excellence in transportation engineering.”

She explains, first, that the consulting engineering firm has prepared a nomination for the award.

“Then it is reviewed by a panel of engineering experts and they decide which prizes are awarded,” continues Lequier-Jobin. “It’s pretty awesome. It was one of the first projects I worked on when I started in the city seven years ago. So it’s been a while coming and it’s kinda great to see it done and to see it look so fantastically beautiful. We get accolades for that.

Lequier-Jobin adds that she thanks all the companies that worked on the causeway for their excellent work as well as the city staff who helped with the project.
