Singapore Land Transport Authority Asset Management

Prepare for successful management and service delivery across rail networks

Singapore’s Mass Rapid Transit and its adjacent systems provide world-class service with a high degree of punctuality, cleanliness and technical sophistication. The oldest sections of the network are at an age that could potentially reach the end of their financial and technical life. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) therefore commissioned WSP to carry out condition assessment studies for all network assets.

These studies included data collection and condition assessment of all infrastructure assets for all Rapid Transit System (RTS) lines, including civil infrastructure systems and structural components, 3rd rail and architectural assets. The study resulted in a comprehensive suite of asset data and condition assessments, along with suggested corrective actions, investments, and operational and organizational proposals.

In addition, the assessments identified maintenance and performance deficiencies, recommended a schedule of appropriate actions needed to improve the asset to a required baseline condition, provided an asset rectification and rehabilitation program that are not comparable to similar assets, established its degradation rate, provided condition and acceptability criteria, and resulted in a proposed new baseline condition.
