Transportation Services for Veterans | VA Bay Pines Healthcare

There are several free and paid transportation services available to veterans and their families if transportation is needed for scheduled appointments at your local VA health care center.

About VTS Services

The Veterans Transportation Service (VTS) is an addition to the existing transportation available to veterans. The service is available for veterans with special needs and for those who do not have transportation available to and from their appointments at Bay Pines VA Medical Center (VAMC). VTS is available at no cost to the veteran.

Eligibility criteria

  • You must be a veteran registered for VA health care benefits
  • You must have a scheduled and authorized medical appointment requiring travel

REMARK: A veteran may be accompanied by a caregiver, spouse or family member

Organize a trip with VTS

To schedule transportation with VTS, please contact your primary care provider, call 727-398-6661 ext. 15624, or email [email protected] Transport appointment must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance to make sure a seat is reserved for you.

Voluntary Transport Network (VTN)

VTN is a transportation system operated by volunteers. This service is free and is available to Veterans who do not have transportation available to and from their medical appointments at the Bay Pines VAMC or Bay Pines Community Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs).

Eligibility criteria

  • Enrolled in VA Healthcare
  • Reservations must be made in advance, as volunteer drivers provide the service.

Other Veteran Shuttle Services

Other veteran-specific transportation services, including buses, shuttles, and wheelchair-accessible transportation, are available to patients. We offer a free shuttle service at our main campus in Bay Pines to help veterans and their escorts from parking lots to any of our campus buildings.
