Construction of phase I of the UNM hospital tower and patient parking structure on Tucker Avenue between its intersections with University Boulevard. and Camino de Salud are now slated to be redone and scratched the week of October 19, according to UNM Parking & Transportation.

The temporary three-phase pavement closures will take place on Tucker Avenue as planned:

  • October 19-20: Tucker will be closed between University Blvd. and Camino Servicio path. (intersection between the G Lot and UNM Facilities Management buildings). During this phase of the work, vehicles will have to use the G Lot to get to the north campus and University Boulevard.
  • October 21: closing of the eastbound lane between Camino Servicio path. and Camino de Salud with limited access (flaggers will be present to help).
  • October 22: Closure of the lots westbound between Camino Servicio road. and Camino de Salud with limited access (flaggers will be present to help).

Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to follow detour signs and plan ahead to avoid this area if possible. A map showing closure and highlighted with phasing information is attached for your reference.

Construction activity for Phase II of this project is expected to begin in December 2020. The campus community will be regularly informed of any additional changes, utility outages or closures. Motorists should allow extra time in their commute while this project is underway and be aware of workers in the area.
